APRIL 2015
1 April: FINAT TC meeting in Berlin. No less than 33 technical experts in attendance to report on and discuss the outcome of subcommittee work. Special guest appearances by PRé Consultants (on LCA) and tesa (on test tapes). Recycling Group meets to finalise conditions on Recycling Awards and assess progress on recycling promotion.
16 April: FINAT opens registration for the 2015 Recycling Awards.
The competition awards companies for having taken steps to lower their environmental impact and giving spent paper and/or filmic release liners a second life. For the results of the 2014 & 2015 competition see page 53.
16-18 April: 2nd YMC global congress, Bratislava, Slovakia ‘Climb to the top’ – the theme of this year’s FINAT Young Managers Club Global Congress – brought together a number of self-adhesive label industry participants in the ‘under forties’ category to sharpen their business skills in a changing world. See page 22 for the full report.
21 April: FINAT MD Jules Lejeune addresses converters on the occasion of a meeting in Wroclaw (Poland) at the premises of 3M.
24 April: the National Association’s Board holds a web conference.
MAY 2015
7 May: 2nd webinar in the ‘New Technology’ series: ‘Sensory Labels and Packaging’ took place. Hannah Hall, Research Manager at Blue Yonder Research, provided insights into the techniques used to ensure that brands connect with their end-user on a multi-sensorial, often sub-conscious level that drives loyalty. Brands are constantly looking for added value and partners who share their passion. Strong relationships with brands are built by understanding precisely what they need, paying attention to the smallest details, and through introducing new techniques that can save time and money whilst improving their product offering.
7-8 May: FINAT Past President Andrea Vimercati attends the annual congress of the Italian
label association GIPEA, held in Lido di Camaiore.
8 May: FINAT President Kurt Walker addressed the members of VskE, convened in Papenburg (northern Germany). Board member Jakob Landberg visits Turkish Label Day in Istanbul.
13 May: FINAT Executive
Board meets in Copenhagen.
14-17 May: FINAT Vice- President Thomas Hagmaier visits the ANFEC congress on Ibiza. Thomas reports back that he managed to “get a good understanding of how the label business in Spain is fairing. The young generation is very open minded and receptive to modern and international business ideas. It was a good opportunity for networking and discussing mutual interests and furthermore strengthening the bond between FINAT and the local association”.
