in other countries. For the optimal ‘out of the box’ view of the label business, I soon found that FINAT was the right route to take, and I subsequently decided that active work in the committees would be the best way to gain a deeper knowledge of the industry and gain connections in many sectors.
Q3: Looking back on your years in FINAT as a committee and Board member, what have been your most rewarding achievements -- for the association, business-wise and/or personally?
TH: In FINAT, You see people coming and going. If you want, you can remain anonymous, but it’s easy to make friends and connections, in business and privately, which can help you in many ways. Certainly the annual congress is a new highlight every year, but my active work within the Board and on the reconstruction of FINAT in the last few years has been specially rewarding and a real honour – and I really value continuing to have a practical role.
FINAT for sure has the power to present today what may happen tomorrow.

KW: Linking the international label industry and defining the new position of FINAT in Europe were for me the biggest challenges. The transformation of the annual FINAT congress from a social business event to the “European Label Forum” -- the platform for meaningful strategic information exchange for the continuing success of the label business -- will certainly help to strengthen FINAT’s position as the umbrella organisation for the European Label industry. I’m delighted to have been involved in that process.
