26 November: The first webinar in FINAT’s New Technology Webinar Series, on ‘Printed Electronics for the label printer’ was organised. In a one hour presentation Chris Jones from Novalia Limited in the UK explained the concept of printed electronics and highlighted the various developments in this printing process. The 30 participants who had registered were also able to post comments and questions online and receive an immediate answer. The recordings of the webinar can be found on FINAT’s Member Area. See page 34 for the report.

4 December: FINAT Executive Board meets in Amsterdam.
18 December: FINAT publishes the 2nd edition of the FINAT RADAR. Starting point of the report is the input from label converters from around Europe via a survey that was circulated in 5 different business languages at the beginning of October. For this edition, input was received from a large number of label converters throughout the different European regions. The second major source of information was the series of one-on-one interviews with a panel of more than 50 major brand owners in key markets. Thirdly and fourthly, the report contains consumables and investment data obtained from the leading materials and (conventional) equipment suppliers. And finally, having
just completed Labelexpo India, the special interest section of this report contains a comparative overview of the main characteristics of the Indian label market

13 January: FINAT, ANFEC (label association from Spain) and LCA experts meet in Amsterdam to align their respective projects on life cycle assessment. Triggered by questions from label customers, ANFEC has undertaken to establish generic so-called Product Category Rules (PCRs) as a tool to enable the development of environmental product declarations for label and decoration products. As the outcome from L9 discussions, FINAT is aiming for harmonised general guidance for label companies (supported by case studies and an inventory of tools available) on how to proceed when trying to assess the environmental impact of their products during throughout their life cycle.
22 January: FINAT opens registrations for the YMC global congress in Bratislava, 16-18 April 2015. The German translation of the FINAT Technical Handbook is released.
28 January: the Labelexpo Advisory Board met in Amsterdam to review progress on continuous improvements and innovations planned for the next edition of the world’s leading global trade show for
the industry. Also discussed were the results of show organisers Tarsus’ investigations into potential alternative locations for future editions. See also report on page 30.

10 February: FINAT completes programme for the European Label Forum 2015. The 2015 edition of FINAT’s annual meeting will have a completely new format.

3 March: The third webinar in
the YMC Management Skills Series was about ‘Bonus Systems’ was presented. During this 2 hour webinar, Conrad Pramböck, Head of Compensation Consulting at Pedersen & Partners, elaborated on the many
types of efficient bonus systems, how they can support the management of employees and help reach the company’s targets. Bonus systems are most effective when they communicate clearly and transparently the rules of the system. The full presentation and audio are available on the members’ only section of our website.
5 March: FINAT opens registrations for the European Label Forum in Amsterdam.
The special event website www.EuropeanLabelForum. com is introduced.
10-11 March: FINAT MD Jules Lejeune addresses visitors of the Xeikon Café in Antwerp, Belgium.
17-19 March: FINAT committees and Board meet in Vienna, Austria
23-26 March: FINAT label competition jury at FINAT’s HQ in The Hague. An
international panel of industry experts convenes to judge the entries of FINAT’s 2015 label competition. In total 260 labels were received by the secretariat. For the results see page 54.
31 March: FINAT TC subcommittees meet in Berlin. Following the confirmation of funding and manpower support obtained from FINAT’s sister organisation TLMI, the Sustainability Subcommittee agrees on the briefing details for PRé consulting, the
