Media and Communication:
which elements of FINAT’s
online portal are most useful for members, which elements
are missing or can be improved to increase traffic ad
engagement?
Training and Education:
what is members’ awareness about
the various educational publications and electronic docu-
ments available from the Members Area and which ones are
most relevant? As far as vocational training and education are
concerned, do members see a role for FINAT and if so, in
which areas?
The input in each of these sections has meanwhile been used
to optimise FINAT programmes in these areas. The complete
report can still be downloaded from the Members Area of the
FINAT website.
OVERALL MEMBER
SATISFACTION
Overall, FINAT members are quite satisfied about their
membership. This was the case in 2005 and is even more so in
2012. In 2005, 60% of the members recommended FINAT in
their personal network. In 2012 69% claim to have recommen-
ded FINAT.
The Member Survey also contained in depth sections about
specific aspects of the FINAT service package:
•The
FINAT Young Managers Club:
in its fifth year, what is
the awareness about the FINAT YMC and what are the main
challenges facing the future leaders of our industry? How can
the YMC help the new generation to establish their ‘foot-
print’?
FINAT
S
STRATEGY
2013 – 2017
:
WHAT
NEXT
?
Since the summer of 2012, the FINAT Board, Executive Board and committees in various sessions have assessed the outcome of
theMember Survey, as the starting point for the next 4 yearly strategy cycle.
The current strategy cycle covers the combined Presidency terms of office of Andrea Vimercati and Kurt Walker. The ‘2x2’
strategy plan 2009 – 2013 contained 5 major objectives (see also the interview with the Executive Board in the Yearbook
2012):
1.
Enhance the global label associations’ network as FINAT and its members go worldwide
2.
Improve member service by using new media technology
3.
Increase synergies between the Board and Committees
4.
Re-assess FINAT’s scope as a self-adhesive association
5.
Establish a clear agenda to promote sustainability and recycling
Taking into account the findings from the survey, the Board met late November to assess the results of this strategy, identify
the key challenges for the coming years and define a vision of where FINAT should be towards the end of the decade.
SELF
-
ASSESSMENT
From the self-assessment there was general consensus that the Board on the following issues:
•FINAT was successful in strengthening the A2A network (association to association), as demonstrated by the successful establish-
ment and engagement of FINAT in the National Associations Board in Europe and the L9 group worldwide.
•The alignment of planning and restructuring of volunteer committees was bringing the targeted synergy benefits for the
association.
•FINAT was moderately successful in gaining industry attention for the sustainability and recycling agenda.
•On the other hand, FINAT was less successful in driving members to its online member-to-member platform as virtual extension
of its service package.
•To date, the association has remained undecided about its future scope: self-adhesive only or wider (including –flexible- pac-
kaging)?
