21 November:
FINAT Technical Committee, Marketing
Committee and Recycling Group meet at parallel sessions
in Paris
22 November:
FINAT Board meeting Paris
The various committees convened in Paris in conjunction with
Emballage 2012 to tackle an array of discussion items. The
Board meeting welcomed as its special guest at the opening
session Mike Fairley who outlined his proposal to establish an
international ‘curriculum’ for operators in the label industry.
The Board endorsed this proposal.
High on the agenda of the Board was also a brainstorm session
to determine FINAT’s strategy for the next couple of years, and
to define the activities that the association needs to undertake
to keep it at the forefront of innovation. Enough food for
thought was provided to prepare a plan of action. The FINAT
Board also met with the Board of the French label association
UNFEA during an informal dinner, in order to discuss the
organisation of the joint FINAT/UNFEA congress 2014. The
exact timing and details of the programme will be available in
the autumn of 2013.
28-30 November:
the FINAT Young Managers Board organized
the first Global Young Managers Congress at the Westin
Grand Hotel in Berlin. The event was organized in collaboration
with the future leaders organizations of TLMI (USA), LMAI
(India) and VskE (Germany). See page 51 for a full review.

12 December:
National Associations Board meeting in
Frankfurt. A long discussion took place on the harmonization
of market indicators and exchange of statistics, worker health
and safety best practices, good manufacturing practice for
food labels as well as the harmonization of vocational traing
and education standards.

11 January:
FINAT Executive Board meeting. The Executive
Board used the occasion of a meeting at Porsche Consulting,
Stuttgart to prepare the Lean Manufacturing workshop in
Leipzig
