lion logo etc. has been well executed. The final flourish of the holographic dark blue background highlights the brightness of the rest of the label. A well- produced label using the UV flexo process.
A3: NON-ALCOHOLIC DRINKS
No entries in this category.
A4: FOOD PRODUCTS
Permapack AG., Switzerland for Mövenpick Honey Mustard Limited Edition
A compact well-designed label with a strong logo in white reversed out of a deep blue background. The illustration, which has been kept simple, really looks like
mustard. The addition of cold foiling gives the label a touch of class. Good use of the flexo process.
A5: HOUSEHOLD PRODUCTS
Skanem Skurup AB, Sweden
for Bio Bact Tomat
The illustration shows a nice range of red tomatoes and green peppers which look very appetising, and stand out against the surrounding components. The
black type is sharp and clear and the brown layer leads the eye to the bottom corner, which in turn leads
to some extra information. A really good example of flexo printing
produced in just four colours.
A6: INDUSTRIAL PRODUCTS
Skanem Poznan, Poland
for Platinum Max Expert XD SW-30
A striking label with the black background contrasting nicely with the white and red sections of the label. The reversed-out white type is very sharp
and legible.
The tab with the
date of filling information has adhesive deactivation to facilitate easy removal. UV flexo has been used to produce a very nice job.
A7: COSMETICS
Skanem Poznan, Poland for Cinderella Hair & Body Wash
This label was chosen
from a massive entry for
this category (more than
70). Full use has been
made of the flexo and
screen printing
processes. The four-
colour background with
a slight vignette looks
really nice and even. The
screen printed white
lettering is extremely
well done with every
letter clean and clear
even the Arabic type.
The four-colour picture
of Cinderella framed by
a “mirror” using cold foiling is excellent and the stars and circles surrounding the mirror add a little sparkle to the result. A delicate and pleasing label.
A8: PHARMACEUTICAL
Pragati Flexo Pvt. Ltd., India for Arshonil Rasayanam
It is difficult to make a pharmaceutical label “attractive”, especially with the subject matter of this entry. I think it is
the holographic background that
makes the
difference. The clever use of spot screen varnishing helps to make elements of the label stand out. A good combination of the flexo and screen processes.
A9: SECURITY
Schreiner Group GmbH & Co. KG., Germany for NFC Sticker Touch 2ID
We are beginning to see this type of product being advertised already, mainly for use with mobile phones. Near Field Communications (NFC) technology is already built into the newer Blackberry phones. This application is a secure and easily-adapted sticker which can hold a lot of information e.g. fingerprints, age verification, name and address etc. An added advantage is the fact that the sticker can be applied to any surface, including metal, and is so thin that it can be used inside a mobile phone protection case. Digital printing technology was used to produce this entry.
