With our increased efforts for outreach, it is also time to start
monitoring the impact of our work. The recycling group has
agreed upon the metrics to be reported by the recycling
solutions to FINAT, which can then be used to monitor and
report progress. As a number of recycling solutions have only
just been announced, it was still premature to include this
information in this Yearbook, but I am looking forward to
reporting to you in by next year!
Finally, I would like to stress that release liner recycling requires
the concerted efforts of all of us. By spreading the message and
support us in approaching the end-users, you help increase of
release liner recycling and improve the environmental record
of the self-adhesive label industry.
It is inspiring to see the amount of coverage the parties
involved have generated for their initiatives, working toward
the common goal of increasing liner recycling uptake.
The business cases in particular help demonstrate the
environmental and economic benefits liner recycling can offer.

While this information has been available online, we are
working to improve visibility of the recycling portal by ensuring
that the portal can be accessed directly from the FINAT
homepage. Additionally, we will expand on the information
included within, adding up-to-date information on the efforts
of recycling group members.
In addition, as a follow-up to the L9 session on sustainability
was organized in Tokyo last year, we are hard at work on a
‘Label Associations Portal’ (LAP), containing information on a
number of umbrella items, including sustainability and
recycling, giving an overview of what is happening in the
various regions, and serving as examples for the others.
