feature workshops
A key feature at Labelexpo this year is an Inkjet Technology
Workshop in which Domino, Durst, EFI Jetrion, Epson,
Linoprint and Stork Prints will each be printing food, pharma
and industrial label designs from the same Esko origination, on
the same range of substrates, so that converters will be able to
benchmark each of the different inkjet technologies against
each other and their own label customer requirements.
In addition, there will be a Package Printing Technology
Workshop with Xeikon and Gidue between them printing
folding cartons and flexible packaging using the same branded
products and designs as the inkjet workshop, but with the label
designs turned into packaging designs, again by Esko

As a further aid for label converters looking to plan their future
label printing technology investments ‒ prior to Labelexpo ‒
and indeed thinking about their capital equipment investments
for the next few years, FINAT is including a key panel
discussion session into its Congress coming up in Munich in
June. Senior representatives from the major analogue and
digital label press manufacturers will make-up the panel,
moderated by Mike Fairley, and offer their considerable
knowledge input and guidance on investment decisions to
converter delegates.
To ensure questions asked of the panel represent the views of
FINAT members a questionnaire was sent out in May with a
range of possible questions, with converters asked to select
five questions and place them in order of suggested priority.
They were also offered the option to add one or two additional
questions of their own choice. Responses to the questionnaire
will provide the basis for the panel discussion that takes place
at the Congress.
The option is also being planned to actually submit questions
to the panel (via a FINAT link) during the discussion itself using
one or more of the social media platforms. Both the
questionnaire survey and interactive question options are a
first for FINAT, and should stimulate an interesting panel
session.
So, if any converter is still undecided on what printing
technology, process, or converting solution they should look to
invest in during the coming year, or is thinking of reviewing at
the forthcoming Labelexpo show, the Congress in Munich
offered a unique opportunity for converter delegates to plan
their future in label printing.
