‘Export: the easy
way to growth’ was
the topic of Santiago
Mirabet’s
presentation and
workshop. Founder
and managing
partner in Mirabet
Consulting (E), a
consultancy specialising in export
coaching, Mr Mirabet’s central tenet
was: ‘The challenges we are facing in
our home markets are not going to go
away… so EXPORTING could be a key
point on your strategic plan!’
A presence in export markets can be
achieved via different routes, Mr
Mirabet showed. He demonstrated
that today’s global marketplace offers
the choice of ‘going it alone’ as a formal
exporter; of forming relationships with
other companies to sell in export
markets; and of leveraging the
opportunities of the internet.
Delivering the company’s website
content in different languages is, he
said, a good start.
Mr Mirabet explained that successful
exporting is about managing a
company’s competitive advantage;
choosing the right market and niche;
establishing strong distributor
agreements; and creating superior
value for customers over competitors
– either through offering lower cost or
differentiation.
Mr Mirabet concluded with a delegate
workshop which involved the
assessment of the opportunities for a

Completing the equation, the Congress’
evening social programme offered plenty
of opportunity for delegates to get to
know one another – as well as the vibrant
nightlife of central Berlin. The 1st FINAT
YMC Global Congress was therefore
pronounced a resounding success by
delegates and speakers alike; and
Francesc Egea promised participants
another Congress in two years’ time – this
time in the USA. ‘We are developing a
profile that is different from all other
self-adhesive industry events’, he said, so
prospective participants can expect, once
again, a unique and inspiring agenda.

FINAT YMC President Francesc Egea
then closed the formal proceedings.
He thanked speakers, delegates, and
co-organisers LMAI, TLMI, and VskE
for their contributions, and recognised
the help and support of the Congress
