Ms Kenter went on to lead a workshop in
which delegates joined up in groups to
assess the state of the industry in which
they are active. They were asked to
consider the key uncertainties and the
future vision, both for themselves
personally, and for their companies;
possible scenarios; and the available
options. The teams were applauded for
their clear thinking. Among the pointers
they highlighted in the label industry
were globalisation, coupled with the
possibility of instituting international
alliances and partnerships; cost
pressures, and the attendant need to
find cost-saving solutions; new
technologies, developing faster than
