just finalized 2 new test methods (28:
Bleed through paper, and 29: Scratch resistance of an UV ink film).
Both test methods will be incorporated in a new and updated
edition of the Technical Handbook, which is scheduled to appear
in March 2014 on the occasion of the Technical Seminar. Regarding
the latter, the Seminar Subcommittee is working on the
programme for ‘Barcelona 2014’. See also the call for papers on
page 37.
• TheMarketing Committee
is working on ideas to develop a trend
survey encompassing different areas of the labelling industry, such
as growth rates, technology and environmental trends. This
survey should be published twice a year and provide FINAT
members with a ‘dashboard’ of relevant trends and developments.
On the agenda was also the PR and communications planning for
this year and the topics and priorities for this year were confirmed.
Finally, the committee also discussed plans to activate FINAT’s
presence in social media like Linked-in and Twitter. At the
moment, FINAT’s Linked-in Group has 1300 members our Twitter
account has some 200 followers (there is also a social network on
Facebook with some 100 members). See also the article on
FINAT’s Website and Community on page 30.

about and promote the use of the various release liner recycling
programmes. In this respect representatives of FINAT will be
